Course Details

This 12-hour qualification equips learners with the knowledge and confidence to recognise a broad range of mental health conditions and understand the types of support and therapy provided by professional healthcare services. Learners will develop the skills to initiate supportive conversations, and to know when and how to signpost individuals to appropriate professional help.

The course also explores how to recognise and manage stress, understand the impact of substance misuse, and respond effectively to mental health concerns. Learners will be introduced to the mental health first aid action plan, learn how to apply it in real-life situations, and understand how to promote a positive mental health culture within the workplace.

While learners will not diagnose or treat mental health conditions—this remains the role of qualified healthcare professionals—they will gain the knowledge to identify when someone may be experiencing a mental health issue and understand where and how to access appropriate support.
