Manipura Chakra Tune Up
If you’re feeling a bit off in self confidence, motivation or even digestion, it could be your Manipura Chakra is out of balance. Read on to learn more about the Solar Plexus chakra and how to harness the sun’s energy to bring sustained change into your life.
7 Simple Ways to Balance Your Manipura Chakra This Summer 🔆
What is the Solar Plexus Chakra?
The solar plexus chakra, also known as Manipura, is the third chakra up in the chain. It’s located in your abdomen, just above your naval. This energetic centre is the home of personal power, confidence and self-esteem. It’s the home of our internal fire, which provides the spark for you to do anything in your life. In yogic terms, your internal fire is called tapas. Once generated, tapas is a spiritual fire that can burn through any blockages in your life.
A masculine manipura energy brings initiation, willingness, and opportunity. The feminine brings warmth, dexterity, skill and radiance. A deficiency in the solar plexus chakra results in weakness, passiveness and tiredness. In excess, it brings controlling, dominating and constantly active energy. When balanced, the Manipura brings mastery.
How can you tell if your Manipura Chakra is Blocked?
Signs of Blockages in your Solar Plexus Chakra
When your solar plexus chakra is blocked or out of balance you might feel:
• Low Self-esteem and feelings of self-worth
• Lack of motivation
• Strong feelings of fear or anxiety
• Digestive issues
• Difficultly making and/or following through on decisions
How to get that Manipura energy flowing again
1. Activate Your Core
Try yoga poses that activate your abdominal area without pushing you into overdrive. Think Boat Pose (Navasana), Twists, or Sun Salutations with mindful breath. This wakes up your solar plexus and supports digestion, both physically and energetically.
2. Celebrate the Sun
Spend time outside in early morning or late afternoon sunlight. The Manipura Chakra is ruled by the sun, so basking in its glow can recharge your inner fire. Let it be intentional—no screens, just you and the warmth.
3. Just add yellow
Surround yourself with the colour of the Manipura Chakra—yellow! Splash some yellow into your life by wearing it, eating yellow foods (like bananas, ginger, or golden beets) or add a splash of colour to your living/work spaces. It subtly reinforces confidence and joy.
4. Practice Breath of Fire (Kapalabhati)
This energising breath clears out stuck energy and boosts vitality. Start with a few rounds in the morning—it stimulates the core, boosts clarity, and gently awakens your personal power.
5. Set (and Keep) Small Promises to Yourself
The Manipura Chakra thrives on integrity. Build trust within yourself by setting one small intention each day—like drinking enough water, stretching for 5 minutes, or saying no when you need to. Following through builds inner strength.
6. Spend Time in Nature—Especially Near Open Fields or Fire
Open spaces help disperse stagnant energy. Try walking barefoot on warm grass, hiking, or plan a candlelit ritual to reconnect with natural heat and clarity.
7. Use an Empowering Mantra
Repeat: ‘I am confident. I honour the power within me.’ Speak it in the mirror. Repeat it in meditation. Write it down. Words shape energy—and this one helps you reclaim your centre with compassion.
Remember balance doesn’t mean doing more – sometimes it means peeling away the layers so you can return to your authentic self. Try one or two of these practices in the coming weeks and see what shifts in your life.
